OZEV Grants for Homes & Workplaces
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) offers a range of grants to make installing electric vehicle charging points more affordable for homes, landlords and businesses. These schemes are designed to support the UK’s transition to electric vehicles while reducing upfront installation costs.

Home Chargepoint Grant
The Home Chargepoint Grant offers up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing an electric vehicle charging point for eligible applicants.
To qualify, you must:
Live in a flat or rental accommodation
Own, lease or have use of an OZEV eligible electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle
Have private off-street parking where the cable does not cross a public pavement
Use an OZEV-approved installer
Install an OZEV-approved chargepoint
The installation must take place within four months of vehicle delivery or becoming the registered driver. If you qualify, Lawson Electrical will manage the grant claim as part of your installation.
Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
The Workplace Charging Scheme supports businesses, charities and public authorities by reducing the cost of installing EV charging points for staff and fleet vehicles.
75% off purchase and installation costs
Capped at £350 per socket
Up to 40 sockets per organisation
Maximum potential support of £14,000
Eligibility requires sufficient off-street parking used by staff or fleet vehicles and installation by an OZEV-approved installer. Small accommodation businesses such as hotels and holiday parks may also qualify under specific criteria.
Education & Landlord Grant Schemes
Education Institutions Charging Scheme
State-funded education institutions can receive 75% off the cost of purchasing and installing EV chargepoints, capped at £2,500 per socket with a maximum of 40 sockets across sites. Eligibility requires off-street parking, a confirmed site survey and compliance with financial assistance limits. Independent schools may apply under the Workplace Charging Scheme.
Landlord Grant Scheme
The Landlord Grant Scheme supports companies or individuals who rent, lease or manage residential or commercial properties. Up to 200 grants per financial year Applicant must be VAT registered or registered at Companies House Property must have private parking Holiday rentals may qualify under alternative schemes Due to varied eligibility criteria, we recommend reviewing full government guidance.
Infrastructure Grants for Staff & Fleets
Small and medium-sized businesses may qualify for infrastructure grants covering 75% of wider installation work up to £15,000. This includes groundwork, cabling and enabling future expansion.
